What kind of new authority could manage the knowledge explosion? I don't know. If there is an answer to that, I expect it will likely emerge out of some crisis. We don't really want an answer to that question currently, and so are unlikely to find one.
One factor I've written quite a bit about is the threat presented by the marriage between an accelerating knowledge explosion and violent men. This is only one factor, but a pretty big one. For now I'll just say that marriage is unsustainable, and direct readers who are interested to my blog for more.
