It seems democracy isn't prepared for this...

Yep. I don't think we're prepared for what's coming if the technology doesn't encounter any significant obstacle.

We'll have to post-regulate quickly after the first "disasters". Let's hope they aren't too painful.

The claim about object permanence seems a bit hasty given the weird disappearing dude in the surreal plastic chair video and the multiplying/merging puppies in another one. Check them all out in the promo video here: https://youtu.be/TU1gMloI0kc

Agree with your point about why people think tech of this nature will disrupt Hollywood. I’m not quite sure it means that Hollywood disappears, but the Hollywood people who can’t adapt to this tech, or later generations of it, will find themselves screwed.

It still feels gimmicky. Companies are pushing the boundaries of what seems to be variants on the same approach but where are the fundamental shifts that drive this onward? We remain very far from AGI. Real intelligence will beat artificial ones for quite some time to come. Look at how deep mind’s advances in GO are overtaken because the model is brittle. Exciting times but not on the scale of relativity theory arriving on the scene.
