Yes, Escher was a genius. But the drawing does not represent recursion; it represents self-reference—a fundamental difference. One that even top researchers overlook, sadly. Yet, they could ask any LLM about it or read Douglas Hofstadter’s Gödel, Escher, Bach, the famous GEB.

It seems pretty likely the winter boom in agentic programming was due to Opus 4.5 + the higher rate limits A\ gave to everybody. I don't think claude code on the web was a big factor outside the labs, though anthropic engineers have noted that their own workflows are more slack-heavy (triggering web instances given a slack communication context) than is typical.

Yeah, I agree. I mentioned it not so much as a causal element but as one more in a cascade of events, one after another. It's hard to know the main cause. I'd say it was mostly that more devs and researchers besides those inside the labs had time to experiment during the holidays.
