"I think modern humans are missing key pillars we evolved to depend on: steady closeness to loved ones, steady contact with nature, and a lasting connection to our spiritual selves."
I think AI talk would benefit so much from these larger multidisciplinary perspective. Too much of it focuses only on the technical aspects, the narrow view of AI.
But we are complex being within complex environments, and I'd love to see explorations opening up more of those directions. I personally prefer newsletters that open up more interesting multidisciplinary discussion than merely those that simply regurgitate the same narrow talks on AI.
But at the same time, there is way too much one-to-one mapping between AI and jobs. Same with the "AI won't steal your job, but someone using AI will" mantra. It's as if everyone believes we are all employed as typists and word processors are on the way.
These false equivalences make us fall into a futures cone of AI that's merely a straight line to anthropomorphism and all its mental laziness. AI foresight today remains egregiously unimaginative.
Tasks may be a better evaluative model than jobs, but they are too much in the weeds for the systemic effects when industry reorganizes work.
A decade ago, Geoffrey Hinton predicted human radiologists would cease to exist when the opposite is now playing out (e.g., https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/14/technology/ai-jobs-radiologists-mayo-clinic.html). And yet Hinton himself will remain scarce for the most part: AI regresses towards the mean and reflects the competent averages in the data. Namely, it's the microwave pizza of work: convenient, commoditized, but ultimately unexceptional.
There are Holden Karnofsky's delusional "PASTA" fantasies of AGI armies replicating scientists -- fantasies that have been copypasta'd by everyone from Eric Schmidt on down. It's one thing to produce a modestly competent ML scientist: the microwave pizza version. But Hinton's scarcity makes him an "out of distribution" problem (OOD) for AI, which is where AI readily breaks down and fails.
So one of the several predictions I made in November 2022 that has turned out to be wrong -- so far -- is that AI would make serious inroads in the $100 billion global porn industry. Think how many tastes could be embraced in those huge prompts! But so far as I can see, nothing. (Not that I really know.) Why? Is the technology not quite there? Or is something deeper going on??
There hasn't been any real alternative to OnlyFans until now, or at least soon. (I am told amazing things about the number of young women participating.) We'll see. But if you are right it will teach me a lot.
Roduolfo stole all of my thoughts and I 100 % agree, spot on! I personally welcome all of your meandering thoughts! Do not hesitate to wander good for us, good for you. Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday, Alberto! Love that you're taking the week to slow down and celebrate properly. There's wisdom in that approach - using these milestone moments to step back and savor life rather than rushing through them. In a world obsessed with optimization and productivity, sometimes the most profound thing we can do is simply enjoy being human. Hope your celebration is filled with moments of genuine humor and connection!
There is no such thing as artificial intelligence. The only intelligent beings on this planet are carbon based plants or animals and maybe fungi. (There there is another category of living being also being postulated, but I don’t know much about it). Machines are still machines and have no intelligence other than through their creators. We have met the enemy, and he is US. As usual. Pepe
Dude, this is spot on.

That's good to know!! I try to do that as much as I can - only technical or technological aspects gets boring
Lol I like that dark AI joke too but the truth is there are certain aspects of your job will be replaced in the next 18 months not your whole @$$ job.
Yeah, it's an exaggeration otherwise not a dark joke but a tragedy! (Although in a large enough timescale what I said is undoubtedly true)
You really do good work man
It's an amusing joke.

I have to agree with this with counted exceptions: "AI foresight today remains egregiously unimaginative"
AI often makes me laugh, but I'm strange.
INTP :)
As for connection, I recently bought Jung's Liber Novus (it's huge) as well as the readers book. I usually ask for Google Play or Steam credit.
Happy Birthday
Thank you!! I've actually changed in the past decade from INTJ to ENFP (although I'll insist I'm more introverted than extroverted)
Oh yeah Happy birthday, Alberto!
Thank you Kenneth!!

I think the deep issue here is that people simply want the real thing. That's why only fans exists at all

re your AI > MBTI you should try pdna.com
Happy birthday! It’s my friends birthday today too, oh and my brother and brother in law 🎂
Thank you!! May people ftw!
Happy upcoming birthday Alberto. My son just turned 10 three days ago (and my daughter turned 8 the day before that), so you're not far off!
So good! Thank you Dan, enjoy the family birthday week!! (Also, congrats on the deserved badge, you're elite now)
Thanks on both counts, and enjoy your birthday shenanigans today!
Happy birthday, Alberto! 🤗🎂
Thank you Karo!
Feliz cumpleaños, Alberto. Suenan bien esos conatos de escribir de más cosas que de IA. Creo que tienes talento de sobra para más. Aquí seguiremos.
Gracias Javi!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Why AI Won’t Replace Programmers — And Why That’s a Good Thing
AI might write code, but it doesn’t understand systems. And that’s where everything falls apart.
