I really loved this piece because I self describe myself as living in a cave purposefully. I try to keep track of important news but only generally, just to know that it does exist. As a creative especially, everything I absorb influences me so I am very sensitive to what I take in.
That said, one solution to all of this is to have your own life on fire. That really relieves a lot of guilt when you're struggling to attend to your own life, much else someone else's :') I just tell myself that I don't have the privilege to worry about it but when I can do something to help, I will.
Brilliantly written, it resonates so deeply in my soul. As a Muslim, a Pakistani by birth, and a citizen of the US, I try to gauge the parallel tracks of existence daily. And I have to come up with a quota of how much of the genocide in Gaza I can endure on X in order to keep the other, somewhat normal life I live here. I do feel guilty even when I take a shower, no matter how grateful I am that I can feel clean and fresh, I turn down the faucet when I think that Palestinians are dying of thirst and hunger. Thank you, Arturo, I will keep reading this piece many times, it helped.

haha that's a good idea actually: be so under fire yourself that you can't attend to other people's fires. Thank you Aja!

Great, Alberto.
As The Beatles pointed out in that great song, Hey Jude…
“Don’t carry the world upon your shoulders…”
