100% agree. AI is not just technology. It's not just business. It's society, politics, culture, identity - everything. We need more categories in general, but AI is especially worthy of a separate category.
In a lot of ways, AI is also witchcraft. Which is to say, even people very close to the industry don't always know or understand exactly how it works -- having the linear algebra skills to fine-tune, configure, and/or train a new model does not necessarily grant insight in the carbon or human costs of that same model.
You can add me to the list. It would make a big difference to many of us. Substack is actually writing about AI a lot in many ways, and for Newsletters to be able to identify their publications is a more targeted way is important for both readers and writers and monetization.
I agree, as AI is becoming transversal to all business and knowledge areas, which didn't happen with crypto. There is nothing that hasn't been touched by it in some way, it's waaay bigger than a tech subcategory.
